Welcome New Board Chair, Tom Ryan

Thomas Ryan is the retired Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Quaker Oats Company. He has practiced as an in-house lawyer for approximately thirty years, including twenty-one years as head of the legal department at some of the largest corporations in America including Tropicana Products, Pillsbury Brands, and Oscar Mayer Foods.

Mr. Ryan attended Saint Lawrence University in 1968 and went on to graduate with a Juris Doctor cum laude from Suffolk University Law School in 1974. He graduated from New York University School of Law with an LL.M. degree in antitrust and trade regulation in 1977. He also attended Harvard Business School in 1982.

Barbara Brizdle
Barbara earned a B.A. degree from Cornell University and attended an Executive M.B.A. program at Harvard University. A pioneer in the software industry, she built a software development group for a national timesharing company, held successive executive positions in Information Services at Chase, and created her own software management consulting company in 1984. A longtime supporter of arts and education, Barbara and her husband Larry Schoenberg founded the Schoenberg Institute for Manuscript Studies at the University of Pennsylvania where she also serves as Overseer of Penn Libraries, and named the Special Collections Center at Ringling School of Art and Design. She has served on the national board of the Alliance for Children & Families, and Jewish Family and Children’s Service among others.

Judy Cahn
Judy is a community volunteer, having retired from more than three decades in securities at J.C. Branford and Company. She is a member of the Board of Directors of Gulf Coast Community Foundation where she was an active participant on the Hunger Design Team providing input and support for the first-of-its-kind Child Hunger Study, the 2014 Hunger in American study, and the development of the Food Bank’s Sprout Mobile Farm Market. Judy is currently on the board of the Sarasota Ballet, Planned Parenthood and past chair of Jewish Family and Children’s Service.

Jack Higgins
Jack Higgins served as Chief Financial Officer at IBM North America and at IBM Asia Pacific. Upon retirement, he and his wife Maureen moved to the Laurel Oaks Country Club community and he serves on numerous committees there in administration and by philanthropic participation in its fundraising events benefiting local charities. At All Faiths Food Bank Jack has previously participated as an active member of its finance committee.

Arnold Hoffman
Community philanthropist and retired investment banker, Arnold served on All Faiths Food Bank’s governance committee last year and currently serves on the Sarasota Orchestra board. Before retiring, he was the senior managing director at Legg Mason Wood Walker, and prior to that his career included positions as managing director at Shearson Lehman Brothers, in sales and marketing at Westinghouse, and in mergers and acquisitions at Union Corporation in Pennsylvania. In 2007 Penn State University honored him as an Alumni Fellow in 1997 and as a Distinguished Alumnus.

Susan Malloy Jones
Susan is the current corporate Vice President of Human Resources and Community Relations at JCI Jones Chemicals in Sarasota. Immediate Past President of the Board at Girls, Inc., she also serves on the board of Make-a-Wish Foundation of Central Florida. Susan has been recognized for her philanthropy and advocacy efforts for The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Children First, The Humane Society of Sarasota County, and Sarasota Memorial Healthcare Foundation.

Midge Stulberg
Midge brings more than 30 years of professional fundraising experience from her positions as Senior Director of Development and Director of Major Gifts at The Ohio State University; Chief Development Officer, Fordham University; Chief Development Officer, Barnard College; and Vice-President for Development and Public Relations, Cranbrook Educational Community. She serves on two philanthropic boards and last year she also served on All Faiths Food Bank’s development committee.
